Under Filter by, you may select check boxes to apply multiple filters and refine your formulation results:
- Industry
- Purpose
- Physical Form
- State of Matter
- Delivery Route
- Information Included
- Document Type
- Organization
- Language
- Publication Year
The available filters and their options are determined by the result set, which changes dynamically as filters are applied or removed.
For example, with no Purpose filter selected, there are 455 formulations results with the Document Type of Journal. | With the Purpose filter of Drug delivery systems selected, the number of results with the Journal document type has narrowed to 41 and the Product Insert option under Document Type no longer displays since there are no formulations with Document Type: General Review and Purpose: Drug delivery systems. |
Click View All under a filter type to display additional options.
Within the expanded filter, you can find options using three tabs: Top Count, Alphanumeric, and Find.

Top Count: Select options with the most results associated with them.

Alphanumeric: Find a filter option by the first letter of its name.

Find: Enter all or part of an option's name, and then click the Find button.
To add an additional filter, check a filter box, and then click the Apply button.
Industry
Select an Industry filter to display formulations drawn from documents classified in that sector.
For example, select Pharmaceutical to display only pharmaceutical formulations containing celecoxib.
The Industry filter selection also changes the options presented in the formulation Purpose filter.
For example, with the Industry > Pharmaceutical filter selected, the Purpose filter options are also pharmaceutical.
Purpose
For example, under the Purpose filter, select Analgesics to see the 1,632 celecoxib formulations whose purpose is an analgesic.
Physical Form
Select a Physical Form filter to display formulations with a delivered in a particular form.
For example, select Particles to see the 429 celecoxib formulations with that physical form.
State of Matter
Select a State of Matter filter to display formulations by their end product's state of matter.
For example, under the State of Matter filter, select Semisolid to see the 337 celecoxib formulations whose end product is in a semisolid state. The selection made in this filter affects the options presented under the Physical Form category. In the example below, the Gels physical form displays since it is a semisolid.
Delivery Route
Select a Delivery Route filter to display formulations with a delivered via a particular route.
For example, select Transdermal drug delivery systems to see the 218 celecoxib formulations with that delivery route.
Information Included
Select an Information Included filter to display formulation results containing that kind of data.
For example, select Effective Dose to see the 527 celecoxib formulation results containing effective dosage information on their Formulation Detail pages.
Document Type
Select a Document Type filter to display formulations from a particular type of source document, including a specific location within the document.
In the example below, results are filtered to show formulations drawn from the Claims section of Patent source documents.
Organization
Select an Organization filter to display the formulations associated with that organization.
Depending on the Document Type filter applied, the Organization options that display are different:
Patent
Organization is the patent assignee.
Journal/General Review
Organization is typically the university or company associated with the author of the formulation reference.
Product Insert
Organization is the drug packager/labeler/manufacturer.
Language
Language displays the publication languages for the formulation references in the result set.
Publication Year
Publication Year displays the range of publication years for all formulation references in the result set. Each bar in the graph represents a year, and mousing over a bar displays the number of results for that year.
To specify a range of publication years, enter a beginning year in the "No Min" field and an ending year in the "No Max" field, and then click the Apply button.
The specified range of years is highlighted in the bar graph, and the Formulations page displays only those results in that range. To clear the date range, click Reset.
